Bob visits Pennsylvania
October 11th, 2008 by Jason Pye“This [bailout] illustrates just how far the Republican Party in particular has slid. One would expect it from the Democrats, but for Republicans to be championing this massive government intervention down to the level of purchasing individual mortgages is unbelievable.” - Bob Barr
Yesterday, Bob visited Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania, one of the battleground states in this election. Bob hammered on the bailout, energy and Iraq:
“You might notice that I’m not wearing a flag lapel pin,” Barr said, referring to public criticisms leveled in the primary against Democrat Barack Obama, who began wearing one after the issue was raised.
“And I only have one house — but more importantly, I don’t care how many houses these candidates have,” a reference to criticisms against Republican John McCain, who hesitated when asked how many homes he and his wife, Cindy, own.
[...]
Barr criticized the debate process, which does not include third-party candidates and permits the candidates to set the rules. The problem, Barr said, is that it allows the candidates to “stay in their comfort zone,” a term he repeated at least a half-dozen times during his presentation.“To us, a debate is a real exchange of ideas,” he said. “By definition, it is pulling somebody outside their comfort zone.”
The visit also demonstrates our confidence that will win stay on the ballot in that state.

Bob Barr is right when he says that this whole election is about , a lot to do about nothing!, keeping our eyes and ears off the issues. Herding up the sheeple to be servants is really what this election is about.
I only wish Bob Barr would rev it up and have an old fashioned stomping, fist on the podium, shoutin to the mountin political speech
( ya know ” I had a dream” stuff) so we can get some traction. Maybe Russ Verney could smoke a peace pipe with Ron Paul , anything will help but doing the same old, same old will only reap us same old.
One GREAT slam dunk commercial could change everything. Must be controversial, An atomic bomb with Bush and McBama’s faces in the mushroom cloud all speaking ” take your money”. The announcer says
” While the Bush, McCain, Obama plan weakens are nation, the terrorist can easily strike………… then the sun comes out, reads
Bob Barr for a brighter day
Sorry, I’m just dreaming!
I have been going door to door with my ” Don’t waste your vote” McBama fliers and once people see this flier, they can’t vote Republicrat.

Jote… good information and ideas. I finally got my tri-folds the other day and carry them everywhere I go in my truck, along with those Avery business cards that I made for Bob. On the front, it’s got a simple Bob Barr logo, this web site address and my email address underneath it if the person I hand it to has any questions that I can help out with. On the back, though, I picked 10 different isues for the printing (the card layout has a 10 cards/sheet set up). Just gave a pair of these to my banker when she asked who Barr was when she saw the cap. She got really excited when I told her the little bit of information and was glad to hear about another option.
Anyway, I was thinking last night on the way to work the following. I sent it to a friend of mine and am just going to paste the thought as a chain of connected events.
——————————–
I was going to work last night thinking about the comment that McCain made about ordering the Treasury or buy up the bad mortgages. Not only would that be our tax money used to ‘fix’ the problem (in his mind) but it would also start to feed this monster that has been created by the bailout bill. The US buying stocks in the failed companies (that will supposedly make the US money when the stocks bounce back) by essentially having the US Federal Government OWNING houses and being paid by the taxpayers. *(added after re-reaind the sent email) Now think of the ‘normal’ foreclosure methods, notification, going to court, getting lawyers etc. If the State owns your house…. what would be the procedure then? * The image that I got after thinking about that, was the USSR and it’s “State Owned Companies”… Mig, Sukhoi, Kalashnikov, Tupolev, etc.
Remember that was the chain of thoughts if McCain won. The thouhgts for Obama are even worse.

damn typos…it should read *(added after re-reading the sent email)

Pittsburgh (South Western Pa.) and Philly (South Eastern Pa.) are Democrat strongholds. Bob needs to campaign in the middle of the state. That’s where he’ll find the kind of voters that will find his message appealing. Johnstown, Gettysburg, State College, Altoona, etc.

Bob… HQ…. how about Ashland, Ohio. CNN is already there doing a lot of coverage about the failed factories etc. I’m positive that if you show up announcing a real plan of action and a redirection of where you would like to lead this country you could get A LOT of coverage. Another alternative would be to look for locations that are in a similar situation. Dont get me wrong, would love to have you come to Texas, but I believe that a stronger showing and coverage would be up there.

Jote has got it right, one knock ‘em dead TV commercial might wake some people up. If someone could do the commercial and send it to the campaign. Mayble it could go on the air?

Bob needs to buy ad time during a major primetime TV show that damn near all of America watches, like Prison Break.

Randy… or… since everybody following McCain and Obama love drama so much… American Idol. That would put Bob in front of millions of eyeballs.
October 13th, 2008 at 6:57 am
America Idol is for the brain dead. We need Bob’s commercials in front of intelligent people. (I don’t want hate mail from American Idol fans either)
October 13th, 2008 at 7:42 am
lol… I’ve never watched the show, just figured it was eyeballs. In fact, cant stand any of those ‘reality tv’ kinds of shows. I understand what youre talking about, just trying to figure out ways of getting Bob in front of as many people as possible. Guess right about now is the time to go un-conventional with the days counting down.

Unfortunately gentlemen, minor parties don’t qualify for the bulk network advertising discount that the major parties enjoy. We pay full price. They pay 15%. If Bob runs a tv ad in primetime, he would’nt have money to do anything else with.
Spot Runner will produce an ad and run in it something like 150 times on like 35 major networks for $799
http://www.spotrunner.com/Political/Default.aspx
Grassroots Meet-up groups and PAC’s used Spot Runner to run Ron Paul ads, because Spot Runner includes a fund raising tool for chip-in’s.
Here’s one of the ads spot runner produced for the RP grassroots campaign.

Someone recently told me National Tv Spots is a similar service offering ads as low as $27.

Andrew Panken is right about Jote being right…”one knock ‘em dead TV commercial might wake some people up”.
Nobody knows that better than Bob Barr. He was leading in his congressional primary race in 2002 45% to 42% with two weeks to go before the election. The Libertarian Party started airing such a commercial and Bob went from being up 3 percentage points to losing by 28 percentage points” while that commercial went on to become declared “the most dramatic political commercial of 2002″. Now the Libertarian Party has a chance to capitalize on that commercial again.
Run the same commercial except for the voice over from then Libertarian candidate Carol Ann Rand. Using the time saved from that omission you can insert Bob saying “I’ve learned from my mistakes while John McCain has not and Barak Obama has not yet shown that he can do”.
You can access that 2002 commercian through Bob Barr Wikipedia, or paste http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOuRsnVny7Y in google search.
Gee, do you think that the media would pick up on the fact that Libertarian Party used that commercial to get Bob Barr out of Congress…and now they are using it to try to get him elected President?
Run it on cable outlets in battleground states and you will see Bob’s support go up in those states. The media will give it double exposure by reporting on it. That’s a fact. The rationality in you should see this even though the ego in you will not like to admit it.
