Bob answers questions on debate night

October 8th, 2008 by Jason Pye

Despite being excluded from the debates, Bob Barr takes questions from YouTube viewers and actually answers them, as opposed to Sen. John McCain and Sen. Barack Obama who last night ducked and dodged nearly every question asked.

« McCain wants another bailout?

I hope Barr & Root gets a platform on TV to communicate this new bailout that McCain proposed last night. It is really amazing.
This would gain him votes from McCain supporters that just about had enough.
Please read Abraham Lincoln’s quote on Bailouts:

Please give it a thumbs up if you like it

Very good video, and very good answers from Bob.

I like the matter-of-fact tone of the answers. I think it’s clear who the real straight talker is in this election. No wonder they scramble to keep Bob out of sight and out of the debates. If the nation heard him speak he’d be our next President.

Wow, this is BS that our political process is just focused on two parties. The debates need to be opened up to a variety of parties for equality in the process.

I didn’t even realize there was another qualified candidate besides Obama and McCain. Barr has congressional experience plus other government experience, and his answers to the debate questions actually make sense. And yes, he stayed on topic and actually answered the questions, which is nice for a change. I’m glad I registered to vote on time, and now I know who I’m going to vote for.

What, no parsing of other candidates’ words, Mr. Barr? No, “What Sen. Obama really said about this is…,” or “Let me tell you what Sen. McCain really wants to do with…”

Whew. I was getting worn out by that revolving door of stupidity called the Presidential debates.

Thanks for allowing Bob Barr issue real answers to real questions! He should bless us with this sort of thing once a week from now on.

Excellent answers. It is unfortunate that the DFL and GOP don’t let the Libertarian Party join the debates. It would really give the citizens real insight into how similar the major party candidates really are. While I’m typically vote the Republican line, I can think of no better time to vote for you and my overall disappointment with the two major parties.

I agree with Ed! I was so disenfranchised by last night’s debate and all of the **** going around in the media, in political ads, etc lately. Nobody is saying enough of what I (or what I hope is the majority of the American people) need to hear to feel confident voting for either one. It is an hypocrisy and a shame that only R’s and D’s are allowed to participate in debates…but that’s what happens when political parties take over such things - “fair” and “balanced” goes out the window. After examining your stance on many issues, I am looking forward to feeling more certain about my vote come Nov. 4. Go Barr!

Half the time, McBama was talking about the issue, the other half, it was attacking itself. I didn’t hear any clear answers to questions.

I do recall McCain mention something like Obama having an 800 billion dollar spending proposal, which seems to contradict this:

(McCain did mention the Taxpayers union though.)

Bob, do more of your own question-answer and /MST3K session videos!

I HAVE ALWAYS VOTED DEMOCRAT, BUT HIS YEAR, I AM NOT HAPPY WITH EITHER ONE OF THE CANDIDATES. I ALSO WISH THAT BOB BARR HAD A CHANCE TO BE ON THE DEBATE. I KNEW VERY LITTLE ABOUT BOB BARR, BUT HAVE DECIDED THAT IS WHERE MY VOTE WILL BE THIS YEAR.

I HAVE ALWAYS VOTED DEMOCRAT, BUT THIS YEAR, I AM NOT HAPPY WITH EITHER OF THE CANDIDATES, SO DECIDED TO CHECK OUT BOB BARR. I DO NOT KNOW VERY MUCH ABOUT HIM, BUT WHAT I SEE IS SOMETHING THAT SAYS, I WILL VOTE FOR HIM THIS ELECTION.

Eliminate the Department of Education, the Department of Energy, the Department of Homeland Security, and repeal the Federal Reserve Act!

That would at least be a start.

Ok, just had another idea… I know we all get them, but sometimes mine come to me late at night. We have all been emailing, phone calls etc. But if we can get everybody that is posting on here, along with people that come along and read the blogs and watch the video…. copy the embed code and paste it into an email to CNN politics. Here is the link to the form that I just sent it to:
    http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form5.html?103

For those that are like me and have never saved videos or even seen how to get the embed code (I had to ask Michael and eventually figured it out)
    - click on the bottom right corner of the video box (the little arrow pointing to the top of the page)
    - click on the box that slides up from the arrow
    - go to the ‘embed box and copy the text
    - paste the text into the body of the email and hit send…..

Those of you that havent done so, please do the following 4 things that will hopefully help get the word out that we want Bob Barr included in the upcoming Presidential Debate (the last one is Oct 15th). It’s time that they change the ‘qualifications’ to include candidates that are on enough State ballots to win the election. Not just the 2 biggest and most popular political parties.

Sign the debate petition found at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/presidential_debates/ All you need to do is put your name (unless you choose to remain Anonymous) and email address, then click on the submit button.

The next thing is to go to this link http://www.lpgeorgia.com/opendebates.php and put your name and email address on a pre typed, professional letter that will be sent to approximately 90 individuals involved in the planning of the debates. Along with copies being sent to the McBama campaigns.

The last thing is to call the Commission on Presidential Debates and state your desire to have the REAL voice of America be heard. The idea is to flood their offices with so many calls that they will have to know that ‘We the People’ are tired of the status quo. The number is (202) 872-1020

The newest idea is to flood the CPD offices with postcards demanding (in a professional way) that Bob Barr be added to the Debates. The address is:

    Commission on Presidential Debates
    1200 New Hampshire Ave., NW
    Washington, DC 20036

Not sure what happened, but just tried to post a comment and it didnt show up…. if there is a repeat, sorry about that.

I had an idea while going from site to site tonight. If everybody would go to the CNN political feedback form and enter the embed code for this video, we can at least get some attention toward Bob. I’m asking everybody that posts replies,or just looks at the video and messages to do this.

The CNN political feedback form is:
    http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form5.html?103

If you are like I was and don’t know how to copy the embed text, here is a crash course:
    - put your cursor over the little arrow at the bottom right side of the video, if a little box pops up, go to the next step, if not, click on the arrow
    - click on the little box
    - go to the ‘embed’ box and copy the text

Now paste it anywhere you can (but for now, use the CNN feedback form) emails, web pages etc.

I doubt too many people needed that information, but I certainly did, had to ask Michael how to do that. So I figured it couldn’t hurt to add.

You hit it out of the park Bob, it’s a shame that you’re not in the mainstream debates but I think it’s excellent that you have done something to answer some questions. It would be great if you could get with Youtube to answer even more questions than you did above.
