Technical Difficulties Resolved . . . we think

September 12th, 2008 by Shane Cory

Folks, just a quick update to explain the Web site outages over the past few days:

We’ve been working with our host, Rackspace, for the past 72 hours to resolve a problem that was causing our server to slow to a crawl about every ten minutes.

I think they’ve resolved it after an investigation this morning and we should be fine for now.  For the geeks out there, up2date, was stuck in a loop.

Thanks to Rackspace for working that out and to all the supporters who called 1-800-Bob-Barr to donate over the phone and check up on us.

Awesome…It was annoying when you’d spend 20 minutes typing a post, click submit, and then get the white screen of death. I also noticed that post confirmation emails are no longer being sent out. Is that going to be a permanent change?

No, we’re still having a few problems and the server generated emails is one of them.

The timing sure is funny. Are you sure you weren’t hacked by some Ron Paul REPUBLICAN POd because the LP is not going to suck up to him anymore?

Interestingly this is a possible solution. Hacking is one of the few physical things you can do to someone over the interwebz.

im sure alot of paul supporters are angry but dont take it out on Barr. Freedom can make people do crazy things to try and either promote it or further it. I go crazy arguing with mcbama supporters all the time, but the craziest thing that can happen is two sides fighting over the same coin of freedom. Ron Paul is a voice for freedom only now. We should be supporting this camp instead of sticking to a loop of infinite lagging in our freedom.

I’m glad that it got fixed. I too was wondering if someone had hacked it. lol Was telling Randy and Michael that I couldnt get my daily Barr fix and was almost late for work when the page wasnt loading….. lol

I think that somewhere on one of the reply strings that a reply I had posted got approved twice. I’d posted the first one, didnt get the email and posted it again to make sure that the email address etc was right. Next think I knew, both of the posts were applied and I never got an email… lol

Bob Barr did not make Ron Paul supporters the enemy. I supported RP all along and still do, except for his apparant decision not to do the one thing that could have advanced the cause the most, which was to accept the gracious offer of Barr and Root to actually seek offfice. True, RP has a congressional seat, but as we’ve seen all along, that and $1 will get him a cup of coffee.

I was at the Rally for Rep. but CFL is now mostly warm fuzzies. After the election, it may take on new importance, but as for now this is where the action is. I agree 100 % with Barr’s actions regarding the press conference. RP saying just vote 3rd party makes no sense.

I’m not so sure the Ron Paul people were supporters of Bob Barr to start with. We’ve been waiting for months, here in Ohio, and very few are onboard.

It is almost like we are seeing the need for TWO organizations:
The LP will be the Political Party– as it should have been the past 30 years! The old-guard LP “purists” now have a home in the RP movement, where they can debate and make commentary, while feeling free to support the LP, the CP, or just stay at home and continue the “debate society”. One can be a member of either, neither, or even both.
Works for me. I’m staying with the LP !
I’m done talking and it is time to start doing.

I agree we should just drop the whole issue. At the heart of it we work towards the same goals and should be happy Dr.Paul has had the success he has… Certainly we are not enemies and the Republicans and Democrats must love any bickering that erupts between us. We should strive to be ‘Indivisable’ from the pricipals of liberty.

  11. Randy Speeg Says:

Some of those CFL folks are acting like RP is some kind of god and nothing can be done without is approval or leadership. RP is and will always be our greatest modern day champion for Liberty, but one man does not make a Revolution. We didn’t have one founding father in America, we had many patriots that we call founding fathers. Likewise, this new Revolution is not about one man’s efforts. Those focusing on RP, who is not going to be in this election (unless he accepts Bob’s offer), are loosing site of the real goal of breaking the duopoly apart with the Libertarian Party.

Personally, I think a more effective message to third-party voters, from a politically strategic point of view, would have been to encourage everyone to vote LP because the LP has the best chance to shatter the glass ceiling of politics. Once that ceiling is shattered then they will have the freedom to bring more voters to their own parties.

I also think that encouraging non-voters to form a league was very ill-advised. We need the 60% of Americans who don’t vote to start voting! If every non-voted who chooses not to vote just because they don’t like the system went out and voted for Barr just to piss off the Republicrats…guess what? HE’D WIN! In a landslide. That’s the message that RP should have sent out to America, and the more I think about the whole thing the more glad I am that Bob did not participate.

I got seduced by Sarah thinking she might be the best hope of bringing some degree of libertarian, Constitutional attitude to the presidency one day.

But I can see now that she is a charming, tough and conservative lady, but not on board with the program at all to eliminate domestic programs and foreign adventures with the meatax needed to get ‘er done.

She has a tremendous ability to look folks like Charles Gibson in the eye and stand her ground, even if it’s on a soft spot. It reminded me that she is indeed a beauty queen, and they have those quick questions to field. (Remember Miss South Carolina!) She does want to drill up north, and I think does improve the McCain offering in several areas. But it just doesn’t get ‘er done to vote for her and include McCain as part of her ticket.

So it’s back to this uphill fight that will probably take 8 more years to win. I’m 65 now, and would really like my next vote to make a difference in the next administration. I think I’ll just take the attitude that the more support Mr. Barr has in the election, the more influence his ideas will have in Congress. Maybe in 2 years we can make some gains there both in membership and in votes on issues. That happened with Perot and Newt.

It looks like the Fed is going to let Lehman Brothers fall, and that might be an opening for a policy against bailouts altogether. If so, Barr has been on record all along against them, and he might just gain some traction with the issue.

This business in Georgia has me worried too.
That’s all we need, another front to fight on.
That really ought to be a drag on our state national guards.

I guess I’ll have to get that yard sign out of the closet and onto the front lawn.

This is an urgent message to Bob Barr from Ron Paul and Bob Barr supporters. To save your campaign, you must dump your campaign manager Russ Verney and the rest of your non-libertarian staff. Then, redo your literature with Libertarian Party on it and surround yourself with a real libertarian staff. Next issue a letter of apology for the statements of Russ and others on your staff.
