Barr: Where does Senator McCain stand on Iraq?
July 17th, 2008 by Jason PyeIn a new video posted on Bob Barr 2008 YouTube Channel, Bob talks about Sen. John McCain’s “strategy” in Iraq and asks the question, “where does Senator McCain stand on Iraq?”

The video on ‘Where Does McCain Stand on Iraq?” is so clear and Bob’s position certainly reflects the will of the American people. He is also Presidential in the manner in which he discusses the issues with the American people.
Bob is one of the most articulate political figures in America today. He can identify problems, find the root causes of those problems and propose clear solutions rooted in our Constitution.
This may be the most refreshing and positive candidate that we’ve seen in a generation!
We need to get his message out and do everything we can to fundraise for him. He has formidable opponents in their ability to raise and use money to get their messages out (I saw Obama raised 52 million dollars in June and Mccain, 22 million). That doesn’t count RNC and DNC money raised.
This campaign has set fundraising goals to meet very specific needs - no frills. Let’s make it happen not only with our own donations, but by asking everyone we know to contribute now - even if they haven’t made up their mind about a candidate yet to ensure that Bob’s name will be there on the ballot when they are ready to decide.

I know that a lot of potential Bob Barr voters, or possible voters are tapped out. These people are tapped out from either higher gasoline or food prices. Bob Barr campaign should humbly, but openly ask for $10 or 20 off of the stimulus checks. I know many of you will disagree. Those Ron Paul Republicans or other like-minded individuals are financially tapped out. Most people are living paycheck to paycheck or are now living on their emergency savings fund.

Clint: you raise an important point which is the hardship many Americans are facing, as they bear the effects of a government spiriling out of control.
Each person has to decide what he or she can donate. I would simply urge those who can donate to do so as the only way to turn this nation around is to elect new leadership and get sound reasonable voices heard.
Never underestimate the power of small donations.
There are 4 full months to the election. Five or ten dollars a month for 4 months when added to the swelling ranks of Barr supporters does mean a lot.
Those who can donate more I would again urge you to do so as early and as often as possible. This really is an investment in our future.
And those who come here probably have a lot of ideas about how to raise money to donate from simply rolling loose change and sending it every time it reaches 10.00 to having a yard sale (getting rid of all that unwanted junk) and donating the proceeds or taking unwanted items to a consignment shop and donating the amount received.
To the campaign I would urge you to keep us abreast of your fundraising plans and ways we can help.
I still think there’s a huge untapped resource in NASCAR fans. I would urge establishing a ‘NASCAR fans for Barr group’. (one of Bob’s rivals has done that) I think once hearing Bob’s message, NASCAR fans would find it much more appealing than either of the Republican or Democratic messages.
Remember that NASCAR brings to cities and towns where the races are held 100,000-200,000 people 36 weeks a year. Most race fans come for 2-3 days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)/so holding events in those cities and towns on Friday and Saturday) where lots of folks are spending time who would find Bob’s message appealing simply makes a lot of sense.
Having supporters in those towns handing out literature (those great trifold brochures/Barr stickers they can put right on their shirt [we need rolls of stickers in the store as soon as possible]/the web address for this site and the Libertarian Party site/and a form so folks could send in a donation) around town (not at the track) on race weekends could go a long way toward getting Bob’s name and message out………….set up a booth somewhere in town with a Welcome Race Fans banner and Bob Barr for President banner………….
I think there could be a groundswell from NASCAR fans………..(think how many millions of others simply watch the races every week on TV, but know folks who go to a race and would bring back information about Bob………..)
Well, I’ve said enough about NASCAR:)/I’m sure there are lots of folks out there with hundreds of other creative ideas to either share here or directly to the campaign.
Let’s use all this energy we’re generating to take the initiative to get the word out, to donate ourselves and to encourage everyone who can to donate what they can.

Laurie,
excellent post. there are ways that a financially strapped individual can support, and there is no shame in a $5 contribution. After all, I don’t think Bob would mind if 9,000 people suddenly each did a $5 contribution and secured that short-term $45,000 goal he had targeted for a specific need.

Also important to think about, yes times are tough right now, but if either of the two status-quo candidates win the presidency, we will be seeing a large tax increase. Just talking about Cap and Trade (which they both support) is estimated to add $1.50 to every gallon of gas.
The question seems more and more to be not “Can I afford to donate?” to “Can I afford not to donate?”

Dear friend,
I urgently need your help.
I’m in Charleston, West Virginia attempting to get Bob Barr on the ballot. When I arrived early Wednesday morning, I didn’t think it would be possible, but I had to give it a shot.
We’re headed toward 48 state ballot access. Only West Virginia and Oklahoma are problems. However, there is hope in Oklahoma as we have just filed a lawsuit to get Bob Barr and Wayne Root on the ballot there.
If we win that case, only West Virginia will stand in our way of 50 state ballot access - an apex of achievement for a third-party candidate and something the media cannot ignore.
But here’s my problem.
There is no active Libertarian Party in West Virginia and a very limited pool of volunteers.
I have had to bring in out-of-state petitioners from across the nation to get this drive done.
So far I have 13 petitioners on the ground and another nine on their way.
I didn’t think we would have the manpower to get the drive done, but now I think it’s a possibility. I have enough petitioners in the state and on their way to collect enough signatures by our August 1st deadline.
But I won’t have the money to finish the drive if I don’t raise $43,000 by close of business on Monday.
Russ Verney, our campaign manager, wrote to me this morning and instructed me to shut down the drive if I cannot raise the funds by COB Monday.
So far this month, we’re raised less than $100,000. We’re even off pace from our June fundraising totals.
The campaign cannot afford this ballot drive as I write this. We would have to choose between basic campaign operations or the possibility of 50 state ballot access.
Russ has to make a tough call on this drive but he did give me 96 hours to raise the funds to continue the effort.
I ask that you keep this drive alive by helping me raise $43,000 by close of business on Monday.
Please make an emergency donation to fund the West Virginia ballot access drive right now. Please give generously by clicking here.
My friend, I’ve only been in this state for a few days and we need to be on the ballot here.
When I arrived in West Virginia it was 2:30 in the morning. I pulled into a hotel parking lot and a restaurant owner and one of her patrons were standing outside smoking a cigarette.
They didn’t look too happy.
As it turns out, just a few weeks earlier the county had banned smoking in all “enclosed workplaces” including bars and restaurants.
I’m not a smoker, but it’s the property owner’s decision to allow or disallow smoking on their premises - it is not a county bureaucrats’ decision.
When I explained libertarian philosophy to them and told them about our candidate Bob Barr, their eyes lit up.
They did not know that there is an alternative to the two-party system. They didn’t know that there is a party that respects an individual’s rights and personal decisions.
Since then, I’ve talked to many more folks in this state and the same holds true. We need to give West Virginians a better choice and the only way to do that is to get Bob Barr on the ballot.
Please donate today and help me keep this drive alive. I have two weeks left to pull it off and I sincerely need your support.
A gift of $50, $100, $250 or more would be a significant help. If you can’t give $50, give $5 or $10. Every dollar gets us one step closer to getting a pro-liberty candidate on the ballot in what could be our final ballot access hurdle.
Thank you for all that you do.
In Liberty,
Shane Cory

We’re all behind you Shane - just made another donation last night and will keep on donating each time I get paid. I know how important ballot access is in West Virginia and in each one of our states.
All Americans should have sound choices for who will lead their country.
Thank you for all the work you and your volunteers are doing on Bob’s behalf.
