Video from America’s Nightly Scorecard
July 10th, 2008 by Jason PyeHere is video of Bob’s appearance on America’s Nightly Scorecard on the Fox Business Channel.
Bob told David Asman that there was no difference between Obama and McCain, calling them the “McBama ticket.” Bob added that the Republican and Democratic candidates are not offering anything of substance to the American people and that he intended to make the race competitive and to offer Americans a choice.

“McBama”, that’s funny. Bob is right on about nothing of substance coming out of the GOP and DNC camps. It’s all the same mumbo jumbo that we get to hear every 4 years.
I’m happy I took the time to check out the LP and I am very happy to be a member of 2 weeks.

Jeff,
Welcome to the LP and R3volution 2.0! We’re in this to win!
July 10th, 2008 at 7:04 am
Welcome Jeff. We are very happy to have you join. Neither McBama or O’Cain will reduce the size and growth of government. Only Bob Barr and the Libertarians will consistently work for small government, frugality, transparency and honesty.

We’re not quite there yet, where it is a truly 3-way race. We’re getting there. But not there as of now.
I give it a couple weeks, maybe three weeks from now.
Think about this: Bob started out at 1 and 2% in late May/early June in national polls, immediately after he won the LP nomination. Than throughout June it was 3%, with some outlier polls having him at 6%.
Now, the norm for Bob in the national polls is 6%, and the outliers are 9 and 10% (the latter being the recent New Hampshire numbers).
Where are we going to be 2 to 3 weeks from now? He’s on a consistent upward trajectory.
Once we’re in mid-teens level, Bob will be knocking on the door of the two major parties. Once he’s in the high teens, it will be a bonafide 3-way race. Once he’s in the low 20s, he will be a genuine contender for the Presidency of the United States.
We’re now there yet. We’re in the high single-digits now. But give it 2 to 3 weeks.
Folks, it doesn’t get any more exciting than this. You are literally living history in the making. This is the greatest Libertarian Presidential Campaign of all-time.

The 2 guys following Bob Barr on the show stood up for much of the message Mr. Barr imparted. Their remarks should be included in the YouTube clip.

The thing I keep seeing with Bob Barr’s media appearances is the very succinct and direct way that he responds to the seemingly mandatory topic of him being a “spoiler” or, in this case, being a candidate that is not realistically “going to win”.
The more I see him deflect these kinds of things, and the way that I see him stay and hammer on message is very encouraging. I think Bob’s direct style is going to translate very well. He is an intellectual person, but does not speak in such a nuanced way that he will lose the average mainstream voter. His tone is sharp and confident, and I really think that he will be a huge danger to McBama should he get into the debates. All bets would be off then.
I participated in the July 2 money bomb and will be donating further. I encourage everyone to donate, even if its ten bucks. Ten bucks can buy a radio spot or a cable tv spot in an off-prime hour, so don’t think it can’t make a difference.

I agree with Eric. We are definitely on the upswing, as Bob’s national media appearances continue, and his message remains constant. The status quo candidates pander to anyone and everyone they can, and the mainstream media will not call out either camp for this. For example, if it were not for my research, I would not have heard about Obama’s warning to parents to ensure that they learn Spanish to “succeed” in the world. If English suddenly fell out of favor with the business, air traffic and news worlds, then it would be surpassed only by Mandarin, Hindi, or Arabic, as they would represent a larger portion of the world’s population (>1 billion people). Neither McBama or O’Cain can maintain a consistent message, let alone a message that the American people are waiting to hear. Their vague and undefined positions are all over the map, while the Barr campaign has been constant with the Libertarian tenets of smaller government and liberty for American citizens, occasionally having to answer charges of being the “spoiler” and to respond to the past. I find it humorous that Republicans are willing to concede four months before Election Day, playing the same cards they played in 1992 & 1996, and that the Democrats played in 2000 & 2004.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:49 am
Shouldn’t Barr’s people say prior to the interview that the ’spoiler’ question has been asked and answered and that the interviewer would probably be better serve to spend that time asking a question of substance.
July 10th, 2008 at 11:10 am
Jeff,
Welcome to the party!
July 10th, 2008 at 11:31 am
The guy asked if Bob really expected to get more than a double diget percentage of the vote. The only way for that to happen is if Bob got a triple diget percentage of the vote, and even I don’t expect Bob to get 100% of the popular vote.
July 10th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
JMann: There are advantages to it also. Even if the interviewer doesn’t mention it or insinuate it the viewer may still be thinking it. Having the interviewer “line ‘em up” so Bob can “knock ‘em down” allows for an opportunity to answer an asked question rather than an unasked one.
Although this particular interviewer’s blunt and matter-of-fact capitulation to the two-party system when phrasing the question was disturbing to say the least. This defeatist attitude lends undeserved strength to the establishment.

As a Ron Paul supporter who is considering voting for Barr I was shocked to see Eric Dondero not only posting here, but flaunting his Ron Paul credentials. This after Ron Paul himself called him a “disgruntled former employee who was fired” and the lot of the RP community considers him a backstabber.
If supporting Barr means associating with the likes of Dondero, who was instrumental in Jamie Kirchick’s slander of Dr. Paul, then I’m voting for Chuck Baldwin. I would suggest to Eric that he immediately stop signing his name with Ron Paul credentials, lest we Paul supporters start to think you’re more of a hypocritical piece of trash than you already are.
July 10th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
Eric-
Considering how much you trashed Ron Paul (who, if I recall correctly, fired you) for being anti-war, and proclaimed Rudy “freedom is about authority” Giuliani to be the “libertarian” candidate in the GOP primaries, it’s more than a little disingenuous of you to be listing your work with Paul on your political resume.
Still, at least you’ve come around for the general election.
July 10th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
J.P. I would suggest that the matter of voting for Bob Barr is an entirely separate matter from the issue of what individuals choose to support him. If the fellow you cited did indeed serve in the capacities that he listed, then he has committed no falsehood in listing his resume credentials.
For the record, I am a “Ron Paul Supporter”, who will most certainly be voting for Bob Barr as he is the best candidate available on the ballot.
July 10th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
“If supporting Barr means associating with the likes of Dondero, who was instrumental in Jamie Kirchick’s slander of Dr. Paul, then I’m voting for Chuck Baldwin.”
Adios Amigo. This isn’t Ron Paul’s campaign and Barr is trying to connect with the mainstream not just the fringe. If you can’t support Barr because of the fact that someone else supports him that was dis’ed by Paul I say you fit nicely in the fringe and probably should be supporting Chucky.
July 10th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
I love when the interviewer says, “I can’t see you getting more than double digits.”
Well, even I as an optimistic and enthusiastic Barr supporter don’t think Barr will win 100% of the votes.
July 10th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
Welcome to all of the new Libertarians. I myself have been one for just over a year. I’m glad to see Bob Barr coming out swinging with facts, while McBama (sorry Bob I’m going to use that now) sugar coat any and all issues and clearly don’t understand the Constitution. Here’s a spot toast to a strong showing this November!
July 10th, 2008 at 5:15 pm
There are going to be a lot of converts to the LP this year, but if your not pro life you won’t keep them.
July 10th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
once again, great job!!! let’s defeat McBama
July 10th, 2008 at 6:00 pm
J.P.: When Dondero was insisting prior to the Libertarian National Convention that he would support McCain and launch “Libertarians for McCain” if Bob Barr wasn’t selected as the Libertarian nominee for President I nearly lost it, but I held my tongue. All I can do is agree with Stephen and say you should vote for the candidate, and not against a single supporter.

I sure hope that the LP does create limits by calling themselves Pro-Life or Pro-Choice. I am a pro-choice person, but it doesn’t matter, we have our rights given to us by the constitution and I am happy to be with a party who basis its platform on our rights granted to us by that constitution and not religious beliefs. It might hurt the party with some conservatives, but cutting big government will scare away some liberials also. Its all about making people understand what freedom truly is and that the LP is the only party that wants to uphold the true freedoms granted to us by the constitution.

This is a federal race. For this campaign to be successful it will need to convince the average Joe that money, power and laws be decentralized back to the states as is the intent of the Federal Constitution.

Jeff, I agree with you that the LP is the only party that wants to uphold the true freedoms, but these freedoms WERE NOT granted BY the Constitution, but by the Creator instead…these rights are “inalienable” and not “granted” by any instrumentality of man, such a written document like the Constitution. Instead, the Constitution PROHIBITS the federal government from messing with these inalienable rights. I was and still am a Ron Paul supporter but in this general election I am going to support Mr. Bob Barr, as he offers the chance to vote for “None of The Above” and actually have it mean something!

If you are following discussions on your website, good job on media Bob!
I would note that if you need any assistance on Space Policy, feel free to contact me as I know most of the players in Commercial space as well as in the DC belt. I worked on Space Policy for Paul in 1987.
Note that McCain’s policy people in this area are not very good and Obama’s did not even seem to know what ITAR was. Hillary had someone who was *REALLY* good… and an old friend of mine
I recognize this is not a major issue for you at present.
I’ll not give any names here but should you wish to, feel free to contact me.

Darn right William, that’s what I’m talking about!!!! This is America, we are a free people and if you believe and I don’t then that’s OK!! You keep on writing things your way William and I’ll do the same and come November we will work together to get the LP where it needs to be because we understand that we are all entitled to see things our own way.
I am not being sarcastic at all, I truly mean what I am saying, this is what America is all about. People coming together with different beliefs and view points to work towards a common cause; Liberty!!!!
I love this country and love being here with all of you!!

Jeff,
Our rights are not granted to us from the constitution. On the contrary, as the founders said, they are inalienable rights granted to us from our creator. The constitution and the bill of rights merely enumerate the rights that we inherantly posess.

Check out this new ‘McBama’ video on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DECwkm4KpM
Explains quite well why we can’t afford a McBama presidency and why Bob Barr is the way to go!
