This is great news about 2 national media appearances for Bob on Sunday - and another reflection of the growing interest in Bob’s candidacy!

No one should underestimate the dissatisfaction of the American people with the way both major parties have conducted business in Washington.

Both Republicans and Democrats feel deserted by their Parties. Many don’t want to sit the election out, so it’s important they know about Bob and his positions on key issues.

It’s very important we continue to donate and fundraise on Bob’s behalf so he can take advantage of all the opportunities to get his message out.

I agree laurie. I certainly am glad that I can vote for Bob Barr, who defends our Constitution, and will restore peace, prosperity and liberty. Otherwise I would have to waste my vote by choosing either McCain or Obama, niether or whom I want, or by just not voting. I was encouraged to see that the fund raising goal for Bob was met. A Happy Independence Day it was.

I really hope that on this election, nobody feels guilty in not voting against the traditional two party system. Especially if you feel that two major players don’t speak for your self interest. Please donate and make the right choice in this election.

There is a website now for the Google/YouTube debate that will be held on September 18. The URL is http://www.neworleansdebate.org . In my opinion, it is very disappointing that they are requiring candidates to be polling “no less than 10 percent” to qualify for inclusion in the debate. While it is still early, I encourage all Bob Barr supporters to go to the website’s “Contact Us” page, linked at the bottom of the homepage, and urge them to lower the threshold to 5%. If a lot of people write them and make a good case for this, maybe they will re-consider their eligibility criteria.

As a hispanic Hillary Volunteer/supporter in Houston, Texas I feel revived and politically energized to be able to say that I pledge my whole-hearted support for Bob Barr! Obama is a flip flop and is not worthy of the hispanic vote. Bob Barr is our guy! Make your choice and make a difference! Texas Hispanics for Bob Barr!

    Hey Jason,

I know that Barr is very busy with his campaign, but I had heard that he’s a prominent member of the ACLU. WIth the recent decision of District of Columbia v. Heller declaring the second amendment to be an individual right, the ACLU is clinging to the “collective rights” fallacy.

Can you please pass this on to Bob? Considering his stature in the ACLU, I would hope that he can influence them to do the right thing.

I don’t think it matters much what the debate proponents set as the limit for debate participation. It depends entirely on John McCain and Barack Obama.

McCain is on record as saying that he favors “at least one debate that will include 3rd party candidates.” He said this at a Town Hall meeting last month.

Obama has been silent on the matter.

Barr supporters need to lobby the Obama campaign to match McCain’s pledge on inclusion of 3rd party candidates in the debates. Call the Leftists out on their hypocrisy. They say they’re all for democracy and all. Well, tell them to prove it.

It occured to me, listening to Bob Barr talk this morning about the need for more parties, that a 2- party system is really only twice as good as a one party system! Let’s get the game mixed up really good with several parties competing meaningfully.

Eventually the Electoral College could even swapped for a popular, runoff type system, with several parties expressing the will of the people. Any candidate would then have equal access to rise to the top.

Maybe one day the runoff might not even include a Republican or Democrat! Let’s get it started this year with a solid turnout for Bob Barr!

Who knows? The other candidates might really stumble badly. Looks like Obama’s on his way to doing just that.

I’ve been a card-carryin’ Libertarian for longer than many of you have been alive. I have a degree in Political Science. I teach history for a living.
But this election there IS a huge difference between Obama and McCain, and, even though Bob Barr is the best candidate we Libertarians have fielded (ever), I still can’t can’t support Bob because this close election will be thrown to Obama, and the stakes are just too high and he (Obama) is just so WRONG for the job.
Yes, I’d rather have Bob then John McCain, but what we’ll wind up with is Obama. I know some people feel that it must get worse before it gets better… but not THAT much worse. McCain, at least, isn’t a socialist like Obama. He won’t demand “reparations” (whatever they’re finally called) like Obama will. McCain has been through the fire; Obama will drag US through the fire.
There is a war on. It’s a war we didn’t start. It’s one that we got into by being… well, by being somewhat Libertarian (and not Muslim) - for allowing (and rightly so) our corporations to do what they do best - maximizing their profits by investing in petroleum in foreign countries - and thereby incurring the wrath of Islamic fascists worldwide. That war did not begin in Iraq. It began in the 7th century with a pedophile named Mohammad who spread his religion with the sword, and they haven’t stopped yet - and won’t. (And please don’t respond with the name Timothy McVeigh unless you can name at least 1 other “White Christian terrorist.”) At least McCain will do his best to protect us; he is one of us - and not because he’s white - I’d have voted for Powell or Rice in a heartbeat - it’s because he won’t kill the goose that lays the golden egg - THAT goose is liberty, capitalism, private enterprise, freedom of speech.
What will an Obama presidency gain us as Libertarians? The “Fairness Doctrine?” Cut and Run in the face of an enemy who sees that as only weakness? Reparations for things we didn’t do, wrongs we didn’t commit? The most Liberal (not Libertarian) Senator in the Senate becoming President??? Socialized medicine? More “hate speech” legislation?
I’m sorry Bob - the fact is, you won’t win. The Libertarian party is the party of ideas, not candidates (so far.) That may change in the future, and I hope it does. But that’s the reality. There’s too much at stake this time. I’d have even given you my vote if it were Hillary for the Dems. But it’s not. It’s Obama and his zombies for “change.” Please don’t be the spoiler and cause an Obama presidency.

  11. Brandt Lewis Says:

Paul, With all due respect to your political expertise and experience, it is exactly because of your line of thought that we are in the political and economic situation that we are. Things can be different and one vote does matter. This country wasn’t started with a majority agreeing on every matter that was in question, rather a process where everyone was heard and a representative appointed to carry the peoples will. I REJECT PASSIVITY, I and millions of other Americans are sick and tired of being sick and tired. It is time to move and to put someone in the White House who is not part of the establishment. It’s time to start tearing down the machine that has put us in this situation. Bob Barr is absolutely electable and with a grass roots effort this can happen- the American People can make this happen- and it’s time that this happen.

Good work for the Barr campaign. One of our other candidates, Harry Browne also did an excellent job of getting on radio and TV, but even Harry said another 3 million dollars to spend on the campaign would have helped get the message out.
