“A Real Choice”
June 27th, 2008 by Jason PyeHere is the latest video put together by Martin Avila, our eCampaign Manager. The video is called “A Real Choice.” We have already heard much rhetoric from the major party candidates, but not much substance. What Bob Barr, Wayne Root and the Libertarian Party bring to the debate is real choice and real solutions for our country.

I like it!
I’m not sure how many folks you can get to sit still for 7 minutes, but the message was excellent and the delivery (and editing) were gripping.
Good job Bob.

Any chance that Barr has to make a difference is made ten times more difficult just by having Wayne Allyn Root standing next to him. I’m sure he’s a nice guy bit he comes of as a checkered-jacket used car salesman and I don’t see it getting any better.
Barr could hold his own in any debate, but could you see Root on the same stage as savvy pols like Bill Richardson, Chris Dodd, Joe Biden, Mitt Romney etc? Of course not.
The LP is getting closer to respectability, but it’s still a long way off.
Just my two pesos,
RHM

I agree with Mr. Nolan. Kudos to the producer of this video!

Love it! It might be a tad long for newcomers - you might consider editing it down just a bit for them. But I don’t know what you could cut, because its all good stuff. My support for Bob gets stronger each time I hear him speak.

Ross Perot had a vice presidential candidate too, his name was Admiral James Stockdale, who, served his country well, and no disrespect, but he wasn’t a politician, and yes, he did quite poorly in debates.
But in the end, the v.p. isn’t a big issue….Bob Barr can, will, and is, doing a lot for the libertarian party.

You’re really using an Arcade Fire song in the background of your video? You guys didn’t even bother to use a song you could get legally, did you? Happily for you, though, the legal implications are pretty minimal. Precious few people will ever see this video.

I disagree with RHM and John Paul Finan.
Wayne Root IS the libertarian party.
He is positive and energetic.
He’s a married family man with children that are home schooled.
He’s a small businessman with all the problems government imposes on small business.
As for JPF, we will get this country back from all the lying, cheating, stealing low lifes of the demo-publican party and we will end up saving your lazy ignorant butt in spite of your own stupidity.
McCain and Obama are not PART of the problem, They ARE the problem and they are worried enough that they won’t let us in to the debates.

Yes to less government. Lets end the control and games of the two major parties, or at least try. I hear many people say if you vote for another party than the R’s or D’s, You’ll just take away votes from the lesser of two EVILS! If you don’t try and take action, You’ll remain on the same path, and will never know. And then I say stop complaining.

About McCain’s speech: “Americans should not be afraid of competition with the world’s markets”. Yeah? With our hands tied behind our backs? How can we compete?
I heard recently on the news a Soviet cat trainer was suing an American cat trainer, claiming he copied his act. I see how countries like China copy at will and export at will. Why the difference?

John Paul Finan: I’m sure this is covered by the doctrine of Fair Use; both because it’s the equivalent of a Public Service Announcement, and because the music is hardly a focal point of the piece.
Nice try, though.

…and by PSA I mean “educational” and “free” before you guys start splitting hairs here.

I agree with Charles Nolan. Any VP candidates that the dempublicans and republicrats choose are going to be big government hacks! I look forward to Wayne debating them and showing how all they care to do is further us into fascism or socialism.

Hopefully Barr will be gaining even more traction and as he does, Wayne Root will also begin to get more MSM attention. I agree that he can potentially come off as a “used car salesman,” but he can still have a positive effect for the ticket. For example, the campaign should keep reminding people that Root and Obama were in the same graduating class at Columbia (and even had the same major). I know it doesn’t really mean anything, but in the minds of many voters, it will somehow make Wayne Root (and therefore the Barr/Root ticket) seem more legitimate and prestigious.

Oh yeah, good video by the way A bit long, but pretty good overall.

Is anyone really supporting Barr? Look at the money he’s raised vs. the money Ron Paul raised. Money talks.
June 28th, 2008 at 6:30 pm
I’m trying to find out if there is a published debate schedule.
How much time do we have to get to 15% and 15% by which poll?
Thanks for any info

I am very upset with McCain’ s irresponsibility in not paying his taxes. Although I am not a fan of taxes, I sure do not want anyone in charge of my tax dollars who cannot manage to pay their own.
We need a president who will be fiscally responsible, and I am now going to take a closer look at Bob Barr to look at his record.

Love the video, keep up the good work! You’ve got my vote.
Liberty isn’t dead… it just smells funny.

Wayne Root had a great amount of support amongst Libertarians before Barr was nominated. Root’s style inspires a great deal of confidence in a great many Libertarians. Many Libertarians see most other Libertarians as dry, policy wankerish, and boring. Root is one of those whose exciting, upbeat and loud. He’s a sports guy. And that’s precisely what the Libertarian Party needs. For too long Libertarians have shunned the Sports community, and Sports community values, of brashness and loudness and salesmanship.
FINALLY! We’ve got a great Vice-Presidential candidate who can appeal to that crowd.

Good video. I really like what Bob Barr has to say. But let me ask all of you this……are you getting a lot of flack for supporting a third party candidate? Saying you are “wasting” your vote or a vote for Bob Barr is a vote for Obama? I am and I am looking for different ways to respond and react. Thanks!!!

This video to rising on youtube. 23,000+ views. This maybe the one that is going to the top and gives a viewer base.

Keke, it’s a double sided sword for Republicans. Yes, most Libertarian votes come out of the GOP column. However, Libertarians also expand the political spectrum.
Think of it this way: A three-way debate with McCain, Barr and Obama. Obama fumbles on the tax question and admits he’d raise “some taxes.” McCain would respond, we need to cut some taxes. Barr would respond that we need to abolish the IRS and replace it with a simplified very low flat tax.
Thus McCain would appear as the Centrist. And more importantly, Obama as a wild-tax raising extremist Leftist.
Those who use the “don’t vote for Barr cause he’ll hurt McCain” argument, might be persuaded on that accord. Try it.

Just heard him on FOX , he has all the right points. McCain should be saying and doing the same items if he wants to win.
June 30th, 2008 at 3:15 pm
Ouch! Two thumbs-down because I spoke the truth about the $$$ raised? Is that Bob Barr-ish?

Recent years have been painful and discouraging. Going to the polls was disheartening. Same old, same old….2008 is Liberty’s year. Those who have discovered the Libertarian Party and Bob Barr are energized and hopeful again. We will take back America. A vote for Barr is a vote for real change, a vote for individual liberty and limited government. Ross started something and was coerced out by Dem-publicans. Ron tried to carry the torch. Bob is running with the torch, gathering supporters, espousing Liberty and fighting for America. Our gutless Congress may just have to sit up and take notice….
