Bringing Real Change
June 19th, 2008 by Jason PyeDan Reale writes in the Norwich (CT) Bulletin that Bob Barr is the only candidate that will truly bring change and address the issues facing our country:
Libertarian presidential nominee Bob Barr offers actual change. He has not only renounced the two-party system, the Patriot Act and the Defense of Marriage Act, he’s worked with the libertarian party, the ACLU and the NRA to undo decades of damage to our civil liberties.
There is much to be said for someone so entrenched in the system to not only admit wrong, but to take initiative in correcting it. This is not something we can say for John McCain or [Barack] Obama, both of whom voted to fund the war and extend the Patriot Act.
Unlike Obama or McCain, who Barr rightly calls a vote for business-as-usual, he is committed to addressing our dependence on foreign oil, the falling value of our dollar and the $58 trillion the two-party system would have our grandchildren pay off. Barr is the only major contender willing to do this by addressing the cause of these problems — not the pretend causes. Barr offers real hope and actual change by unifying us as Americans, as citizens with unalienable rights and a servant government.
The sooner we embrace this vision, the sooner it will be achieved.
Mr. Reale is also a candidate running in Connecticut’s 2nd Congressional District.

Great article! It’s good to see things like this come accross and can be very positive about our campaign for the libertarians. This election has motivated me to do anything I possibly can to convince people that the libertarian movement is the only real movement that will save this country. Obviously I do it very humbly and followed by great research into the facts, but given i’ve really done my homework goes a long way into swaying people to take a second look at who they are thinking about voting for. I’ve made other comment before on other comment pages that everyone who reads this can make a big step toward doing a push of knowledge by somply e-mailing everyone in your address book links to websites directly related to the Libertarian Party and Bob Barr’s campaign, tell them all to keep the message going to everyone in their address book. Get the conversations going and this could be a huge push forward. We are all linked in some way and this is a very powerful message, give them something to think about.

This campaign should trumpet marijuana legalization. Obama bragged about inhaling marijuana. When will he sponsor Senate versions of HR5842 and HR5843?

If Barr can be competitive, it will trumpet more than that. The illegalization of marijuana isn’t the cause of too many murders, at least not in my neighborhood. I would like to see heroin and cocaine controlled by the free market so that the hoppers and the crooked cops stop eating our major port cities alive.
You watch the Wire on HBO. I live in it. The war on drugs is the big problem; legalization of marijana is just a small victory.

Guys, I’ll be there on July 2nd with you and I’m bringing $177 dollars with me.
I didn’t pick that number by magic, people who donated to the Obama campaign, that is the average size donation.
I’m donating $177 to say, not only have I already donated, but I’m donating again the average Obama amount.
I’m completely shameless this election season…it’s because I’ve seen organizations make a difference. I’ve seen it on the local level, I’ve seen it in other countries, I know it takes time, but this is the season to build the libertarian party, and set the stage for future successes.
Keep reminding us about July 2nd…..I look forward to that day. I’m also donating on July 4th.

I too was a conservative Republican like Barr, but Ron Paul AND the Libertarian Party have changed so much of my thinking. Right now, I’m going through the CATO home studies course. It’s not easy; it takes some work, but well worth it.
Real Change can only come from the Libertarian Party. I know it’s tempting to think about restoring or taking over the GOP, but why not support the real Party of Liberty? At one time the GOP was a third party. Let’s be the real alternative.
For those of you who are purists Libertarians, don’t reject us newbies. We have lot’s to learn. Welcome us and teach us. For those of you who want to broaden the party’s attraction, don’t reject the principles of Liberty. Don’t compromise the principles to attract numbers. The masses must be attracted to the message of Liberty.
The leadership of the LP must be focused and committed to true libertarian principals. Too many disgruntled voters without the understanding of libertarianism would not help the LP or the nation. The LP keep it’s principles but welcome the new.
All of us must become true spokesmen of Liberty. Learn the ideas, philosophy, and policies. The better educated we are, the more committed we will be. This election could really wake up the nation.

Where were you when Ron Paul was running - helping or hiding? What’s the point of stealing votes, knowing that you won’t win?
I’m neither Democrat nor Republican, I share views on all sides. But I’m certainly not someone that helps a Libertarian steal just for the sake of doing so.

There is a big difference between Barr and Paul, a difference which makes me respect and support Barr’s candidacy for President of the USA, a respect I never had for Paul, and it is this; whereas Paul has the audacity to blame America for the islamists evil acts against our nation and people, Barr does not.

Where are all the media in response to Obama. I for the life of me cannot see why the people of the U. S. can’t see through him. He scares me to death! His background alone should be enough for a normal person not to vote for him. I wish the media could start investigating him more intensely. It seems as if our congressmen and media all have their heads somewhere that I cannot repeat!
