Barr polling at eight percent in Georgia
May 21st, 2008 by Stephen GordonComparing this InsiderAdvantage poll to this Rasmussen poll we posted the other day, it seems that Bob Barr is already showing a bit of a home court advantage.
“Barr is likely doing a bit better in Georgia because of his years in the political arena in the state,” said InsiderAdvantage’s Matt Towery. “He has remained actively available on national talk shows and until recently wrote columns for publications (including, by disclosure not only the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, but for a monthly magazine owned by the parent company of InsiderAdvantage Polling). My guess is that his numbers are not as high around the rest of the country due to a lack of sustained name identification.”
Here are the raw results from the Georgia survey:
John McCain, Republican: 45%
Barack Obama, Democrat: 35%
Bob Barr, Libertarian: 8%
Undecided: 12%
In this Georgia survey, Barr is currently attracting 7.4 percent of the Republican vote, five percent of the Democratic vote and 11.4 percent of the independent vote. He is picking up roughly the same amount of male support (7.8 percent) as female support (7.5 percent). Crosstabs are available here.

Good news. Matt Towery’s Insider Advantage was more accurate during the GOP and Democratic primaries than many other polls and their strength is in the SOuth. Towery is a very fine man as well. Barr also has support among conservative Greens, just read a remark by one the other day saying they will vote for him.

These poll results are very encouraging. I just hope that a majority of my fellow Libertarian Party members who are delegates vote for Bob at the convention this Sunday.

Here’s a question if he doesn’t get the Libertarian Party nominee does he end up seeking the Reform Parties nominee?

I’m interested in supporting Bob Barr, but I’ve read some negative items that I feel HAVE to be addressed first before I vote. Is it true that Bob Barr agrees with the Calif. judges decision on *** marriage over the voters in that state?! Does Bob Barr support the ACLU? And would Bob give the terrorist a trial on U.S. soil? It would be great to have a President that was NOT a Republican nor a Democrat in 160 years, but I want to know about these issues. I don’t intend to be a lemming going over a cliff for someone I may disagree with. I hope Bob will answer these questions, and I can encourage others to vote for Bob Barr.

I agree with TheRight2Know. I am 63 years old and have been a loyal republican all of my life. I am tired of the government being run by republicans and democrates because in my opinion they are one in the same. I also love history and when I look at what our founding fathers, and there families endured to create this great country it makes me sick to see what has happened with the corrupt politicians. I am also actively seeking an alternative but as many people have mentioned I still need to how Mr. Barr stands on many of the issues of the day. I would like to see something on this web site explaining exactly were he stands.
Thank you and I hope this is the beginnig of a new day for this country.
