Barr Polling 7% in Potential Presidential Bid
April 11th, 2008 by StaffAtlanta, GA - In a survey commissioned last week by the Bob Barr 2008 Presidential Exploratory Committee, seven percent of likely voters responded that they would vote for the former Georgia congressman for president if he were on the ballot in November. Shortly after Ross Perot announced he was re-entering the presidential race in October 1992, he polled at seven percent. Barr is considering whether to seek the nomination of the Libertarian Party for president.
According to the latest poll, Barr enjoys 36 percent name recognition. When questions were asked reminding voters about Barr’s role in the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton, and about the reasons why Barr left the Republican Party to join the Libertarian Party, Barr’s seven percent rose to nine percent against Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain. He polled at eleven percent against Hillary Clinton and John McCain.
Russell Verney, Ross Perot’s former campaign manager and a volunteer with the Barr Exploratory Committee commented, “Bob Barr’s name recognition and voter support are tremendous considering he has never run as a national candidate and has yet to spend any money on advertising. In the event Bob Barr officially enters the race, he will already be half way to qualifying for the fall Presidential debates.”
The telephone survey of 1,000 ‘Likely Voters’ was conducted by Pulse Opinion Research on April 3, 2008. Pulse Opinion Research, LLC is an independent public opinion research firm using automated polling methodology and procedures licensed from Rasmussen Reports, LLC. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus three percentage points.
The Libertarian Party, America’s oldest and largest third party, formed in 1971, is on track to achieve ballot access in at least 48 states. Its nominee will be chosen at the Libertarian National Convention which will be held in Denver, CO May 22 through 26.

Seven percent is most impressive given no official announcement has been made. Additionally, I believe many, if not most, of the Ron Paul contingency (of which I am a part) will become strong advocates for Bob Barr over the next few months. If a wise and creative campaign staff is in place, I believe the country is ready to hear from Bob … a eloquent orator with intellectual substance. Let’s keep the fight for liberty and freedom ringing in the ears of the American people via the Bob Barr 08 Presidential Campaign.

I just heard that you maybe running for President? If so, as of now, you will have my vote! I have spread the word through e-mails already about you and hope others will pick up the pace also.
By the way, heard this info off Ann Coulter’s web site.
Thank God, finally some one to vote for.

I feel that same as Phil (11Apr) and Mike (12Apr).
No reasonable Republican or Democrat is happy with the current [potential] choices.
I still hope for a miracle that would put Ron Paul on the ticket; given a place on the Republican ticket, Ron Paul surely would win the national election. However, given that miracles are highly unlikely, I think Bob Barr will be the only choice of conscience; he has my vote.

Very interested in Bob Barr for president. Not interested in voting for any ot the current candidates. About time the American people rise up and do away with the two party system, that shuts out any voice but their own.

Bob Barr has the nomination and now this long journey for me, that began with Ron Paul for President in1988, is beginning to come to fruition. I plan on starting a support group on MySpace with a group of dedicated Libertarians for Bob Barr. anyone interested in being part of this group please reply!

I certainly hope that Bob Barr does quite well in the South. It will ensure the coming Obama victory. Barr’s the GOP’s Nader and, as such, is just about as relevant to mainstream issues as Nader was: NOT.

Michael Badnarik got more votes than Ralph Nader who had about 100 times the media coverage. Just think of what Barr could do without a media blackout!
