Michigan Businessman Had Sought Nomination Himself
Libertarian Party presidential hopeful Bob Jackson has announced that he is dropping from the presidential nomination race and throwing his support behind Bob Barr.
“When a better candidate appears it is good to recognize it,” Jackson wrote on his campaign website. “I have terminated my campaign in favor of full support to Bob Barr and I encourage you to also support Bob Barr.”
“Because of issues ranging from his small-business acumen to his community involvement to his valuable political contributions, Bob serves as a shining light for all Libertarians,” said former Congressman Bob Barr. “I am deeply honored by Bob’s offer of support and wish him continued success in all of his future endeavors.”

I like Bob Barr, but I am a bit leary about his stance on the War on Drugs. As I recall, he was a pro-drug-war Republican who saw nothing wrong with violations of posse comatatus rules forbidding the use of the military in matters of law enforcement.. Please someone bring me up to date on Barr’s stance on relegalization/decriminalization of drugs and ending the drug war.

Bob Barr is the man who can help lead the Libertarian Party to the next level. He is the next star in the ongoing rEVOLution. The LP needs to support Bob and so do the Paul supporters.

Can you guys take a look at this video. Made by independant grassroots guys. The Dr. Paul campaign could not use it because of the legal reasons.

I believe they would make one for Mr. Barr. I know it is early for talk of advertising. But many of us feel this is something very different and would create huge buzz if played nationally. This is their PAC website. Contact info at bottom.

I am so glad that Bob Barr is speaking out for the average American! The GOP promised us a FAIRTAX vote in 1994 if we gave them a Republican President. We gave them a historic five years of control of the House, Senate and White House, and instead of reform votes, we got record breaking spending on earmarks, an undeclared war based on false information, and another trillion added to my 12 year old son’s generational tax bill. I find the Republican party to be greater liars than the Clinton’s ever were. Not a SINGE VOTE was ever even scheduled for tax reform, yet PNTR for our enemies in Communist China got passed, among other anti-American worker bills. Furthermore, the two parties are offering nothing that we can believe in, just more of the same tax and spend on the democrat side, and more of the endless war aganst a new boogeyman on the Republican side. I cannot put 3.29 per gallon gas in my SUV to drive to the polls to vote for more of the same! Good for you Bob Barr, we need you to carry on the Ron Paul Revolution! May you be blessed with countinued courage and support for taking a stand for the principles of Liberty and Constitutional government! When you were my Congressman, I never thought this nation may come to depend upon you to restore our liberties, but God works in mysterious ways!! You will have our votes in November!

I have been a democrat for 51 years and if Mr Barr runs for the president of these United States i will support him and vote for him in the coming elections along with many of my friends who are leaving the two parties(Dem-Rep) in droves. Need to get the Libertarian party register in NC!!!!!! Also if Bob Barr gets Ron Paul as running mate will possibly win the presidency. People out here are fed up with the bickering of the now entranced two party system. I have almost 330 people on my e-mail list and feel that these people will pass on the news to the ones that are on there e-mails which will bring on alot of buss for Mr. Barr…

Is there any way that Ron Paul could be the VP running mate of Barr?????….this would be such a boost to Barr for President. Has anyone from Bar’’s campaign called Paul?

The thought that went through my head when I read about Bob Barr starting a run for the Libertarian Nomination was, ‘wow, and to think I was happy when he lost his congressional seat. but he’s changed a lot, and once he stopped being a congressman and became a human being again, he realized just how dangerous large government is to America.’
No Candidate is perfect, and I’m sure I could find something I don’t agree with. but now, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, I’m going to donate 20 bucks and encourage some of my friends to do so. As more people donate, I’ll be more than happy to donate more.
If he gets bumper stickers and yard signs, I’d put em out (hint hint), though I imagine that should wait until when/if he gets the nomination.
Thank you and good luck Mr Barr. The system is stacked against any 3rd party candidate, but to sit and do nothing even when the odds are long, is to give up on the idea that America doesn’t have to become the nanny state who’s so scared of shadows that they’ll happily give up all their freedoms for the illusion of safety.

Wow, how exciting! In the recent past, former Senator Mike Gravel has joined the party and announced he is running for our presidential nomination. And now it looks like Bob Barr might be running too! I am a Libertarian candidate fo office in Utah, but only now am I getting really excited about our presidential nomination. Sean Hannity has lambasted Rep. Barr about taking enough votes away from the Republicans to help a Democrat get elected. After what happened in 2000, and the debacle bought on us by George Bush, that would not bother me a bit. Now, I just have to decide which of our newer candiates to send money to. Perhaps both!

I’m having trouble pulling the lever for any “libertarian” that voted for The Patriot Act.
Pat Buchanan brought a lot of votes to the Reform Party a few years ago, and where is it now?
I think we should be sure we’re not trading a few votes this year for the LPs future..
